Chat rules

Thrifted chat is for discussing items, offers, delivery, and order questions. To protect buyers and sellers from scams, some messages are blocked automatically and some accounts are paused for manual review.

Before checkout

  • Do not share phone numbers, email addresses, WhatsApp, social media handles, or other contact details.
  • Do not ask someone to send photos, videos, or details off-platform.
  • Do not send external links, payment links, QR codes, shortened URLs, or pages that look like Thrifted.
  • Do not ask for direct payment by bank transfer, Revolut, PayPal, cash, crypto, IBAN, or any other off-platform method.
  • Do not arrange a date, time, or place to meet before the purchase is completed at checkout.

After checkout

Once an item has been purchased through Thrifted, contact details may be shared when they are genuinely needed to coordinate delivery or meetup. Payments should still stay on Thrifted unless support tells you otherwise.

Review pauses

If repeated messages are blocked or flagged, messaging may be paused while support reviews the account. This can happen by mistake, especially with unusual formatting or legitimate delivery coordination. If your chat was paused incorrectly, contact support and we will review it.

If someone sends you a suspicious link

Do not click it, do not enter personal or payment details, and do not continue the conversation outside Thrifted. Report the user or contact support with the message details.
